The band came up with the name Soul Incision to represent the fusion of the soul music we play (our repertoire includes many 60's and 70's soul tunes from Memphis and Motown) and the medical day jobs most of us have and Vanderbilt University and Medical Center in Music City USA, Nashville, TN. By day, our members include accomplished physicians, nurses and administrators and computer professionals. By night our RNs, MBAs, MDs, PhDs, M Divs and MHAs shed our uniforms, coats, ties and stuffed shirts to unwind, de-stress and have a great time playing the music everyone loves. The band added positive balance to our lives, and we've noticed that lots of people in all age groups relate to the music we play. The music makes our day better, no matter what else is happening around us. It helped us develop creativity, passion, commitment, teamwork, and discipline - all skills valued by day in our professions.

Exciting high points have included cameo appearances with the band at fund raisers by Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill, Delbert McClinton, Jo Dee Messina, Blue Miller, Suzy Bogguss, Kathy Mattea, Billy Dean, Paul Overstreet, Trick Pony, Linda Davis, Gary Chapman and Deborah Allen. All have been gracious and encouraging, making it all the more fun for us. And, Francis Preston of BMI awarded us an "Honorary Grammy" for our performance at Country in the Rockies 2003.

It all started in 1998. A few of us gathered to jam on some old rock and roll and R&B. Now, we perform about 30 times a year, often at celebrations, charity events, conventions, weddings, corporate parties, clubs, concert venues like River Stages, , and recently a CMA after party for Capitol Records. we've traveled a fair bit along the way throughout Tennessee and Kentucky, as well as Boston, Washington DC, Miami, New Orleans, Dallas, San Antonio Cleveland, Raleigh and Crested Butte, CO.

Our first CD in 2000 was titled First Cuts, keeping on the medical-musical use. And continuing the use, our second CD is named Wide Open.

For Soul Incision, it's all about the fun! The band's motto is "It's never too late to rock & roll!" Come on and share the good times with us!
